6 JUNE 1998. CENTRAL AMERICA: FIRE
The New York Times reports that the onset of the rainy
season has yet to put a damper on fires burning in Mexico and Central America.
Over 150 fires, 23 major, continue to burn. The U.S, has provided $5 million
and helicopters to assist the 3,000 Mexicans battling the fires.
