8 JUNE 1998. WORLD: TEMPERATURE (RECORD)
While El Nino is dying, it still managed to generate
record world temperatures, 1.76 degrees above the average of 61.7 degrees
(1961 to 1990). Vice President Gore stated: "it appears that this general
warming trend is making the effects of El Niño worse. This is a
reminder once again that global warming is real and that unless we act
we can expect more extreme weather in the years ahead."
