30 JUNE 1998. EL SALVADOR:
DISEASE (DENGUE) La Nacion - Costa Rica: "This source has reported 493
classic dengue cases this year in San Salvador and identified 2 cases of
dengue hemorrhagic fever (it is not clear if these are a separate class
or if they are included in the larger number). Public health officials
are concerned because there were [only] 423 cases of classic dengue in
1997, with no hemorrhagic cases reported. Officials are urging more aggressive
mosquito eradication programs because dengue in its hemorrhagic form has
been identified this year." Carol Pennel pennel@swbell.net VIA ProMED http://www.healthnet.org/programs/promed.html.
