giraffe to be taken to France - a gift from a despot to try and gain favor
in an upcoming war, anyhow, it was walked from Marseille to Paris where
it then lived in the Jardin des Plantes. But it also really goes
into the plundering of Africa circa 1800 - depressing but fascinating.
