World Wildlife Foundation: Central African Republic |
| Major Natural Resources |
The major natural resources
of the Central African Republic come from mining and the tropical forests which cover up to 75% of the nation.
While the forests mainly provide a single resource--timber, the ground provides several. Some of the
main mineral resources of the Central African Republic include gold, diamonds, uranium, and oil. |
| Major Environmental and
Conservation Issues |
The greatest natural hazards of the Central African Republic include flooding and
hot, dusty winds. Human actions have created other problems, such as desertification and deforestation;
poachers represent a major threat to wildlife. Like many other developing nations in central Africa, there are health issues dealing with the potability of water;
diseases such as ebola and HIV/AIDS are problems to the population. |
