Informative Links

The most recent text of the MAI as of April 23, 1998 (http://www.oecd.org/daf/cmis/mai/negtext.htm)

Recent informative Washington Post article from April 28, 1998 (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPlate/1998-04/29/0671-042998-idx.html)

Good source of relatively unbiased background information on MAI, directed towards Canada though (http://www.islandnet.com/~ncfs/maisite/overview.htm)

Fantastic site from International Law Firm Appleton and Associates (http://www.appletonlaw.com/MAI/home.html)

Very complete report from the Western Governor's Association is long and boring, but it is the best source of how the United States will be affected by MAI (http://www.westgov.org/wga/publicat/maiweb.htm)

Links to Sites in Favor of MAI

OECD's MAI site lots of great articles and information (http://www.oecd.org/daf/cmis/mai/maindex.htm)

The United States Council for International Business is a major U.S. group promoting MAI (http://www.uscib.org/index.html)

Links to Sites Opposing MAI

The Sierra Club has a bunch of articles opposing MAI (http://www.sierraclub.ca/national/mai)

Friends of the Earth hav an extensive collection of articles and some letters too (http://www.foe.org/ga/mai.html)

MAI?  No Thanks...!  Is a really big Canadian Anti-MAI site (http://www.flora.org/mai-not/library)

Boston Area MAI Action Groups is a smaller site but more oriented towards community action here in the United States (http://world.std.com/~dadams/MAI/)

Sample Letters

This is a very good letter from Friends of the Earth (http://www.foe.org.ga/barlet.html)

A follow up letter makes and interesting read, but I don't reccomend that you send this one! (http://www.foe.org/ga/let210.html)

If you are in favor of MAI this letter is for you (http://www.uscib.org/policy/mailtr.htm)

There are other letters on various Canadian and Austrailian sites is you are interested, but these are the best and most relevant.  Just a reminder ; ) don't copy these letters directly, they will be more persuasive if you personalize them.  Also these letters are not exactly form letters either.  There are form letters out there, but they are not as effective, write from your heart!

If these just are not enough links for you there are hundreds more at http://www.islandnet.com/~ncfs/maisite/webinfo.htm
